The French Arnold

i can never make lemonade the right way, because i just can't bare to add as much sugar as you're supposed to. last night i made a homemade arnold palmer – half fresh squeezed lemonade and half iced tea – and i added as much sugar as i could stand to. unfortunately, when i went to drink it tonight it just wasn't sweet enough, so i looked in the fridge to see what i could possibly do to fix this drink. then, i found the st. germain liqueur!

Enter THE FRENCH ARNOLD
Just like an Arnold Palmer with a French twist

4 cups fresh lemonade made with 1/4 c. sugar + the juice from 3 lemons
4 cups home brewed black tea, unsweetened
3/4 cup st. germain
1/4 cup vodka (optional)
ice

i can't describe how incredibly vibrant these roses were.

Traif, Mother's Day 2011

yum yum yum yum yum, Traif is my favorite restaurant right now, so naturally that's where I took my mom, along with my boyfriend and his parents, for Mother's day brunch. We started with fresh pineapple with a pomegranate glaze and lime zest (so creative and still so natural). Anyway here are the pictures – they speak for themselves... and pics of the moms, too!

Lots of love to my mom, Alice, for always being there for me and being supportive no matter what. <3

My CSA!! Tenth Acre Farms, Brooklyn

Today was the first day for pick-up at my CSA, Tenth Acre Farms! The whole thing is new to me, so Jon and I just walked over there (it's only 5 blocks away!) and looked for anyone to ask how we do this. We found one of the farmers and he just started clipping mixed greens and herbs for us! I'm sorry, I'm so new to this that the whole thing is blowing my mind and I'm in love with it.

Food that's grown 5 blocks from my apt in Greenpoint Brooklyn that's all natural and organic, and that I get to pick up every week from now until well into Fall... Ahhh the excitement!

Here's what we picked up:

various lettuce greens

thyme, sage, chives with edible flower buds, and oregano

The Moon at Royal Oak, Tuesday May 3, 2011

I need to tell anyone who's reading this that The Moon is the best free show in town. They get a whole bunch of local/not local comedians to perform, and they do hilarious sketches, too. Also, there's a drink at Royal Oak called the Liz Lemon. See, everybody wins!

This time around the theme was spring break nerds and douchebags (I think), and they got Arden Myrin and co creator of Chapelle's show Neal Brennan to perform (right after he went to the White House Correspondents Dinner because he was a joke writer). Also Fit People, who are a hilarious recurring duo who talk about being fit and say "NEVER DIE."

I heard about the show because a friend of mine, Jordan Clifford, is in the group. He played Paco Mango an island stoner guy with a pet iguana that plopped right off his shoulder in the middle of a skit.

Here are some Moon related blogs... They're absolutely hilarious, if you're into that sort of thing.

saying goodbye to my friend's sweet apt.

my friend james said it best when he said:

"LCD Soundsystem, Osama Bin Laden, and 145 Bedford.
Truly the end of an era."

If you haven't been to my friend rob's, it's going to be hard to explain to you now why that apartment was awesome... but basically it was unusually gigantic, filled with cool art and trinkets, and had a huge outdoor deck. my friend would have many many parties there in the warmer months, where there would sometimes be a live band, sometimes BBQ, and just good times with some of my best friends. so, cheers to rob and 145 bedford. Just because he doesn't live there anymore doesn't mean it will cease to exist... but... it sort of does.
-R-I-P- cool apartment in williamsburg with a deck. you were ahead of your time.
oh yeah and during the day, when i was ALSO there, rob sold all his things on bedford avenue.

Record Store Day Post Additions

I left out a bunch of photos from this day/night that are worth sharing. One part is that an old friend of mine who i never get to see anymore came to town, so that was cool... also in this set, large professor (don't kill me if i'm wrong) and some more stepkids shots from the fat beats pop-up shop.
